Following your surf lesson, enjoy the beach, or stroll trough the town and visit many little shops, have a lunch in a local inexpensive soda restaurants serving local Caribbean food or try one of many international restaurants (we can recommend where to go) or rent a bicycle and explore the area – this town has so much to offer.
Puerto Viejo’s dining scene reflects its widely-varied international population – Caribbean, Italian, Argentinean, Mexican, Asian, Spanish, Middle Eastern, North American, and of course, Costa Rican. There’s also a great selection of bars and discos to dance the night away or listen to live music.
By now you will be super hooked on surfing. You belong to the sea now, and everything else, well, kind of falls away.
Whatever your reason for your first paddle out, one thing is for certain: you won’t forget the feeling. And it is not just about memorizing a few moves – surfing is a totally absorbing, full-body endeavour. Surfing engages more muscles than you realize. You’re going to be sore, but you’ll also experience: !Euphoria! And it is addictive. Research has shown that surfers experience elevated levels of adrenaline in response to charged ions in the atmosphere where waves are breaking and water is frothy. This hyper stimulation then triggers the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine, making you feel happy and calm for up to 24 hours after the session!
Free day in Puerto Viejo…..Or try one of many nature or adventure tours available in this area. We can recommend or take you to any of these tours: Jungle Hike, Night Jungle Hike, Zip Lining / CanopyTour, Snorkeling, Horseback riding… and many more. Visit our Local Tours page.
So now you really know how to surf!
