After the breakfast, we will take you to the wildlife rescue center named in honor of its original resident – The Jaguar Rescue Center.
The Jaguar Rescue Center is a temporary home for rescued, injured and orphaned animals. The primary goal of the JRC is to rehabilitate animals and reintroduce them back into their native habitats. Monkeys, birds, sloths, snakes and more are brought to the JRC, and treated by professional veterinarians, caregivers and a team of staff and volunteers. This tour will bring you in direct contact with monkeys, wild cats, sloths, anteaters and other animals.
After the JRC, enjoy the beach, or stroll trough the town and visit many little shops, have a lunch in a local inexpensive soda restaurants serving local Caribbean food or try one of many international restaurants (we can recommend where to go) or rent a bicycle and explore the area.
In the afternoon opt for a 2-1/2 hour horseback riding on the beach and trough the jungle. Get to know the Caribbean on the back of a horse and with the help of our experienced guide. This is an optional activity.
And then go and check out what the town has to offer in the evening!
Puerto Viejo’s dining scene reflects its widely-varied international population – Caribbean, Italian, Argentinean, Mexican, Asian, Spanish, Middle Eastern, North American, and of course, Costa Rican. There’s also a great selection of bars and discos to dance the night away or listen to live music.

Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge is rainforest and wetland habitat with a coral reef. At 23,348 total acres, this vast refuge begins 3 miles south of Puerto Viejo-until it runs into the Sixaola River at the Panamanian boarder. Apart from the great variety of vegetation, you will see animals like monkeys, toucans, sloths, snakes, caimans and a wide variety of birds. Our guide knows this refuge like his own backyard, since he grew up in the jungle and the breadth and depth of his knowledge and experience are simply amazing. He knows ever plant, animal, and sign of every animal that you will encounter. It will be an experience you will never forget, fun and adventurous! The tour is approximately 4 hours. If you would like to finish the tour with some white sand beach and crystal blue water experience, it will be our pleasure to take you there. 🙂

Early morning, after the breakfast we will start our trip towards Montezuma. Montezuma is special. That is the first thing anyone will tell you about Montezuma.
One of the things that makes it unique is its almost bohemian feel. Though small, Montezuma is a vibrant community, made up of like-minded expats and locals. Adding to this, Montezuma has an impressive selection of restaurants serving food from all around the world.
It will take approximately 8hr to reach Montezuma. The trip includes an hour and a half ferry ride from Punta Arenas to Nicoya Peninsula. Upon arrival to Montezuma, we will take you to your hotel, lovely boutique hotel.

In the morning we will take you to Montezuma Waterfalls. A 40-minute river hike leads to a waterfall with a delicious swimming hole. Further along the trail, a second set of falls offers a good clean 10m leap into deep water. You’ll want proper hiking footwear.
Afterwards, explore Montezuma and it’s beautiful beaches, go to Montezuma Butterfly Garden or walk Montezuma’s most popular beach, Playa Montezuma. If you are up for a little adventure, continue walking north to explore more beaches and secluded coves. About 15-20 minutes away is a spot marked with dozens of makeshift rock sculptures called cairns and also a small waterfall.

Santa Teresa is a booming new travel destination in Costa Rica, just a short ride from Montezuma, attracting beach lovers to its broad, white-sand beaches, and yogis to the world-class yoga classes. Our hotel host here is a surfing instructor so this would be a wonderful opportunity to try surfing! Or we can help organize any of the activities offered in Santa Teresa: boat tours, fishing, snorkeling, stand up paddle boarding, horseback riding, or a canopy tour on the edge of the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve.
At the sunset, you could go to a Yoga class, at the Horizon Yoga Center where you can enjoy your practice at the open wooden pavilion with the sounds of nature and the view of the ocean. This Yoga center is called Horizon for a reason!
